This is someone who, just last September, led the largest-ever demonstration , codenamed The Red Tide in the news media, to "depose" Chen Shui-bian, the Taiwanese President. (more background)
When the Red Tide failed its mission and fell apart, this is someone who claimed that he would prison himself inside a condo, which is said to be quite a luxury when compared with the usual prison, until Chen steps down .
This is someone who has been nominated for 2007 Nobel Peace prize for his major efforts in this.
And now he's the most-wanted man in this week's Next magazine (壹週刊), Taiwan's best-selling tabloid in exposing dirty politics and everything else that's not fit to print.
Shih Ming-de (施明德) broke out of prison and flied to the U.S. during the Lunar New Year holidays when no one was watching.
The former-DPP-turned-KMT-leaning activist carried with him, among other things, a will, which the story says he could do without as he's living such a good life, and several cash cards so he can withdraw money donated by the Red Tide followers in the sum of NT$100 million dollars (or USD$ 3.125 million).
Ha, talk of revolution! Come again.
